A beautiful collaboration between AerreA & Wilder Ways.  We are delighted to invite you to our first full week adventures in 2023.  Includes 7 nights full board, 2 half days horsemanship, 2 full days of trail riding and 1 horseback archery day.  In between this itinerary there will be down time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the farm.  Places are limited to 5 participants and are available to riders of all abilities.

From Antoinet (CEO of AerreA): “Throughout my own experiences riding at Wilder Ways, I have come to realise its value and utility for self-care and self-examination. The horses can be a clear mirror to you and teach you about yourself in a playful and natural manner. All of this is underpinned by Cara and Nikki, the proprietors of Wilder Ways. Their vision and approach make this a truly unique place. Together with two experienced therapists this is the perfect place to surprise yourself and learn, but also to enjoy the horses and unspoilt nature”.

The Adventure

We (AerreA & Wilder Ways) welcome you to the wild side and the will of the herd.  Let us nurture you and provide an enchanting, wilderness haven for you in which you can relax, recharge and grow.  Enjoy Glen Kerran, a charming 150-year-old farm-house set in 100 acres of pasture and woodlands between two meandering rivers.  Share this space with a herd of 25 horses, a range of wildlife, and a menagerie of sheep, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs.  Indulge in hearty home-grown food, share stories and be at peace.  Join this immersive, adventure-filled itinerary of horsemanship, trail riding, horseback archery and so much more.

Over the course of the week, you will have opportunities to take care of your horse, to bond with it, to work together and to share in your triumphs and challenges.  Whether you are a complete beginner to horses or an experienced rider, we are here every step of the way to ensure you enjoy new experiences, develop new skills and feel accomplished.

This experience aims to give real insight into yourself and can be a powerful, emotional rollercoaster.  The program offers the security and comfort of a small and focussed group of people who are here to help each other.  Feel nurtured as you develop your relationship with your horse.  Horses provide a wonderful mirror into our own hearts and minds, are only too happy to provide a shoulder to cry on, or a metaphorical kick out of the dust when we most need it.

The package

Accommodation is provided in a characterful 150-year-old farmhouse and is based on two people sharing a room.  Each morning breakfast is at 8.30am, with a different ‘special’ served daily.  After this we will encourage and support you to take care of your horse and bond before we set out on our adventures for the day.  Lunches are either a picnic lunch on the hoof or a farmhouse lunch depending on the activities. Each evening we dine together at the farmhouse for a hearty home-grown meal.  Please note alcoholic drinks are not provided but you may bring your own.  During and after dinner there is also time and space to exchange and discuss experiences.

The Itinerary

Day 1:  On the arrival day you will travel from Glasgow airport, with AerreA by private minibus to the Kintyre peninsula.  This is a beautiful trip with breath-taking views of the landscape.  You will arrive at Glen Kerran Farm (home of Wilder Ways) by late afternoon where we will have dinner all together and take part in our first activities.  Check in from 4pm and before dinner served at 7pm.

Day 2:  We will spend the entire day riding. There will be in-depth explanation of the care for the horses and riding preparation.  We will ride into the Scottish wilderness and will picnic with the horses.  In the evening we will have dinner in the beautiful and cosy farm and talk with the group about everyone’s aims and experiences.

Day 3:  The morning will be spent enjoying horsemanship games and exercises with the full team.  The afternoon activities will be provided solely by Ianthe & Antoinet.  You will travel into Campbeltown to enjoy dinner out in a local restaurant to sample further tastes of Kintyre.

Day 4:  We will embark again for a full day’s exciting riding.  Hopefully on the beach where we can enjoy letting go and embracing the waves.  Again we shall picnic with the horses during the day and return to the farmhouse for dinner in the evening.

Day 5:  Full day program provided by Ianthe and Antoinet. The focus will be on self-care and unearthing one’s patterns and mechanisms. We will spend as much time as possible outside. This day we will not ride.  You will travel into Campbeltown to enjoy dinner out in a local restaurant to sample further tastes of Kintyre.

Day 6:  The entire day will be spent experiencing the power of archery, which we will eventually do from horseback – an amazing feeling.  The empowering feeling and accompanied boost in confidence, themes like letting go, and learning to focus on your own feelings will be amongst the things discussed and experienced that day.  Lunch and dinner will be in the farmhouse.

Day 7:  This will be the last morning with the horses, enjoying horsemanship games and exercises but this time charged with the confidence and experience gained from the week’s adventures.  The afternoon will be spent with Antoinet & Ianthe.  Our final supper will be all together at the farmhouse so we can share our tales of the week.

Day 8:   After breakfast the minibus will depart for Glasgow airport.  Check out is 10am.

The Team

Antoinet Oostindier (1961) is the CEO of AerreA, an institution in Wormer near Amsterdam, which was established exclusively for healthcare
professionals. These professionals work exceptionally hard taking care of others, yet many have not learned how to take care of themselves. As a psychiatrist, Antoinet specialises in helping healthcare professionals find their balance and passion, to focus on what they want most in life and to remember why they’ve chosen this beautiful profession.

Ianthe Leeuw-Tjiong (1974) works as a psychotherapist and family therapist and has worked with horses as co-therapists for more than 10 years. She believes in the unity of body and mind.  Whilst healthcare professionals are trained to use their mind, many have forgotten to listen to what their body tells them. In working with horses ('horsemanship’) we see ourselves and our old patterns and beliefs mirrored. Together with the beautiful expertise of Cara and Nikki, Antoinet and Ianthe have put an insightful, challenging and inspiring adventure for you.

Nikki Dayton-Gelati (1964) is a committed environmentalist and avid adventurer, with a lifelong love of horses and self-sufficiency.  This ultimate earthy mother creates a nurturing space where dreams can come true. An unexpected powerhouse who will bring out your inner warrior as she shares the ancient arts of horseback archery with you.  In between the war cries, she will cosset you with delicious home grown produce.

Cara Dayton-Gelati (1984) is a passionate horsewoman, fascinated by the lessons horses have to teach us.  Cara is a fearless romantic who loves to create adventures that challenge and support people to go beyond their comfort zone and dare to believe.  Gain greater  understanding of yourself and the horses through Cara’s infectious energy and the tranquility of the herd.
